A few years back I went on a family vacation to Newquay with my parents. I thought I was in for the usual boring week with my family but that’s because I had never been to Newquay before! I was sixteen at the time, so I had just reached the age where I would be able to do a few things on my own for a change. When we arrived on holiday it soon became clear to me that I was going to have a great time. We arrived at the campsite and I headed straight down to check out Fistral beach. It was amazing. Clear fine sand, and amazing surf despite the great weather. I knew that this would be my base for the rest of the week. One thing I did notice in my week on holiday with my family was that there were dozens of great looking bars and clubs. Unfortunately at the time I wasn’t old enough to be able to get into any of them, but by now I would be.
So this year I persuaded a few mates that Newquay was the best place for us to head for our holiday after our A Levels. It would be a great place to wind down and celebrate our impending freedom from our parents!
I went online and found some cheap flights to Newquay and booked them up straight away – I didn’t want anybody backing out at the last minute! I could remember most of the good spots in Newquay for myself, but I thought it would be a good idea to have a look at a Newquay tourism website. I was actually really glad I did because I had forgotten about the great sea life centre in town, which was next to one of the beaches right by the centre of town which I probably wouldn’t have gone to if I hadn’t been reminded. After seeing this I checked out another Newquay guide to see what else we could do. It looked like Newquay Zoo was pretty good, and there was also a lot of information about things to do in the evening – which is what I was really looking forward to!
I have to say, after heading down to Newquay, all we really did was laze around in the sun on the beach during the day, and hit the clubs at night, but Newquay has so much more to offer that I am going to go back there next year to do all the things I never got round to doing this year!
